Ruby's a 2006 F-150, named after Ruby's BBQ, which used to be on Guadalupe aka "The Drag" in Austin. The paint's almost the exact color of their BBQ sauce, so the name just made sense. I miss that place.
I split time between Bozeman, Montana and Austin. For years, Ruby makes the drive both safe and fun. I'm a self-employed electrician, and she's my work truck, office, parts warehouse, dining area, day bed, and daily driver. I literally live and work with Ruby and I love this truck.
August in Texas doesn't play around. Heat index sitting at 110, and every AC call turns into an emergency real quick and business is good. I pull up in Ruby and it's the same thing every time. "Thank God you're here!" Get that AC running again, load up, head to the next call and do it all over again. Some days it feels less like work and more like running around with a toolbox playing superhero. She just keeps taking me where I need to go and makes a lot of us happy, I guess.
