Here's Marty, and he's our real-life time machine.
This black 1986 Toyota 4x4 is named for the character in the movie and a whole lot of fun for me and my teenage son to work on. He wanted a cool truck, and now we have a project. With a 40-year-old truck, there is always something that needs time and attention. I'm glad we are building this together.
This truck was my friend's ranch truck and stayed there for most of its life. A few years ago, I told him, "If you ever want to sell it, please let me have first-dibs." One day, he called me up and said, "Come get it." This truck was mostly barn-kept and so the exterior was in really good shape and the miles were really low. It never really hit pavement. However, there was about ten pounds of mud in the undercarriage. Marty cleaned up nice, and was mostly rust-free. We love to drive and show him off!
Marty is our tribute to the other vehicle star from that movie.
